Mathilda appears to be approaching status quo ante. Basically, arthritis had made her stiff in her left hind. She compensated by putting weight on her right hind. Last week, she strained her right hind. Ya can’t compensate with both. She seems to be coming to a workable arrangement of weight distribution. It’s not elegant, butContinue reading “Fine. So Far.”

Getting Ready
Mathilda has undergone a few reversals of fortune lately. Mostly mechanical, mostly minor. The front end is still bright-eyed & bushy-maned … and opinionated & obnoxious. At some point, the accumulated mechanical errors will overwhelm the system. At some point, the minions will run out of saving throws. We are in the endgame. Whether thatContinue reading “Getting Ready”
Thank You #2
Saddleseat rider Buffy Bourbon was kind enough to comment on a show post [Third]. Stalking her digitally (waves hi) led me to the Hobby Horse Clothing Company. Thank You #1
A New Path was kind enough to comment on a Twelve Days of Christmas post [3 Feed Sacks]: “I finally have all mine on the same feed – Safechoice Senior (the only senior my old guy will eat). Grooming Tweets
Last Saturday, we took five horses and 11 riders to the Horsemanship Challenge. I rode last year [Regular Programming], but declined to do so this year. Horse show tomorrow. Not riding. I will watch & help. Stomach heard "horse show" & reacted accordingly. Trying to talk sense to it. — Rodney's Saga (@RodneysSaga) February 21,Continue reading “Grooming Tweets”
Mare Update the Second
Mathilda is making the Thoroughbred look sane. Due to winter weather and muddy footing, her current routine is pen at night and handwalks/grazing during the day. Furthermore, we have switched her from a senior feed to a pellet of which she likes the taste. No more leftovers. More calories + less activity = spooking, spinning,Continue reading “Mare Update the Second”
