Dark Horse, Saratoga Chocolate Co.

“Despite its name, this special reserve dark chocolate bar is one of our finest entries in the field and an all-out lock across the board.” SCC: Dark Horse Bar. Given the location, I assume those are racing terms.

Did I buy a box of crackers specifically for the name? Perhaps.

Other Milton food.

Hay Update

Awareness of the outside world. Let the future begin. I am blue. This is known. Politics aside, I think this is brilliant messaging. It emphasizes the pivot from a contest between two old men. [Life in Alabama, Being a Bad Blue Dot In A Really Red State]

In the end, we came to the same conclusion about the hay as the commenters. [Alfalfa Strike]

We tossed the hay the horses refused rather than asking Milton to eat it over time or hand it over to another barn. It was probably okay. Probably. Maybe.

While you hate to see hay used to line muddy paths, a sick horse would be infinitely worse.

Not worth the risk.

How to Make Bad Art: Crash Course
Lauren Beagle
Make Bham
24 July 2024

The idea was to draw fast and by the pageful in order to shut down the internal critic. As with the Art Journal class, I was not the intended audience. [Journal Workshop]

I have no trouble with bad art. I make a lot of it. I have no problem with that. The bar is so low for my Sunday art posts, that if I come up with anything halfway passible, I consider it a victory and move on.

For me, the class was a success.

I got out of the house. I interacted with three-dimensional people. I had fun.

I got to play with supplies. This time charcoal, pastels, & gouache.

Cool Water For A Hot Day, Photography

Photography of the outside world. Total support for photographers doing their jobs. However, the cameras surrounding Biles are certainly a thing. Imagine competing under those conditions. On the gripping hand, in modern sport, media brings in the money.

Summer Driving

Awareness of the outside world. I am late to the party. Ilona Maher is awesome.

~~~
Stepping Stone Farm has been summer camping, so I’ve been having driving lessons lately. Easier to fit in before the camp day starts.
The driving is going well. Are the lessons going well *because* I’m not riding? Or because I’ve been doing it long enough that it’s about time I learned something?
Andre has less auto-pilot than Optimus so our lines tend to wander. I discovered that if I remind him to stay up and straight, the steering takes care of itself. Imagine that.
With Optimus I practice maintaining our pace and turning with intention.
Overall, trying to use my ears as well as my eyes. Trying to hear what’s happening with the gait in addition to watching the horse. This is not a natural for me. [The Music, and The Mirror]
