Walk [December]
Bham AL USA
December 2025
Had a plan. Set aside yesterday to type up today’s post. Easy peasey. Instead, spent the day obsessively reloading weather maps to follow hurricane Isaias. Also hurricanes Rachel & Simon in the Pacific.
From a map earlier in the week, it looks as if Simon split off from Rachel. They can do that? Can’t find an explanation online. The sites are busy with warnings and forecasts, as one would expect.
Update. Another map indicates that I misread the first map.
AccuWeather: Isaias breaks 121-year record as the Atlantic’s latest first hurricane, Speck & Lada, Oct 8/9, 2026.
Wiki: List of storms named Isaias, 9 Oct 2026.
Hurricane names. NOAA: Tropical Cyclone Names
Reason for hurricane names. NOAA: Tropical Cyclone Naming History and Retired Names. [Storm Season]
Update. Storm gone. Rain over. We have power. Everyone is ears up.
Stay safe.
Onwards!

Thanks for the links for information about hurricanes. The stables, SSF, is at a show this weekend. Have you been to a very rainy – stormy show? Honestly, it’s one time I’m glad to be home. MM
Looks like the storm was smaller by the time it got as far as the show, maybe?
I hope the storm misses you. Haven’t heard how, if at all, it’s going to affect us up here.
“If you live in Maryland and go south, you’re a Northerner. If you go north, you’re a Southerner.” Stuck in the middle….
Seemed to fizzle out, even to the surprise of the TV weather folks.
If you live in NY, Yankees are from New England. If you live in the South, Yankees are from the North. If you live in another country, Yankees are from the US.
It all depends where you’re starting from, I guess.
