Today is the scheduled day for cross-country at the FEI World Equestrian Games in Tryon NC, USA.
Although invited to volunteer [Opportunity or Distraction], I ultimately chose not go. The original plan for today’s post was to yap about that decision and how I felt about it. In light of current conditions, my mental gymnastics on the subject seem trivial.
Instead, I would like to wish safety and dry socks to everyone in Florence’s path.
Thank you for reading,

Florence has been downgraded to a tropical storm; they’re now saying we’ll get some rain from it by tomorrow thru tuesday. I’ll believe it when I see it, they’ve been pushing back the ‘arrival date’ since the storm started.
Are they really going ahead with the games? You were right not to go, even tho you didn’t know quite why at the time.
Would have been an adventure, that’s for sure.
The Olympic Channel is showing the games. Wish I’d known sooner, think I missed almost everything. I did earlier today see the show jumping phase of eventing; dressage freestyle final is supposed to be on now but they’re showing a marathon from Berlin. Booring.
Another week to go: vaulting, paradressage, jumping & driving. TV coverage: https://tryon2018.com/article/nbc-sports-presents-nearly-65-hours-of-fei-world-equestrian-games-tryon-2018-coverage-beginning-wednesday-sept-12
