Bling! Finally!

Fit To Ride

Finally got a 5k medal! Fourth time’s the charm. To recap:

Magic City, wrong medal, too slow [Proof of Concept]
Drum Run, no medal, too slow [Strolling To A Soundtrack]
La Jolla, medal, in the mail [Strolling Along]
Green Bay, medal! [Strolling Around and Around and Around]

Does bling matter? You might as well ask if horse show ribbons matter. and that’s just plain heresy.

Also t-shirt & bib number.

Differences
Pace difference must be from walking 3.17 but having my official time calculated over 3.1. Not sure why they decided on 60 for my age. Not that it matters for this. I would still have been last, 9 of 9, in 55-59. I have no explanation for the wandering bib numbers. I am filed under #10308 in the results. The 209 appears to have been printed for the virtual race. Maybe they renumbered. I assume the bib itself is an desirable artifact for racers to collect. Certainly nicer than horse show numbers.

What are you doing for exercise these days?

Stay safe. Stay sane.

  1. I’m doing my regularly scheduled program. Weights 2-3 times a week, spinning, elliptical or walking 4-5 times a week. I’ve had a home gym since the early 80’s, so my local draconian “rules” haven’t had any effect on that at all. My riding is down. Sold the horse I liked to ride the most. In fact, I haven’t ridden in 3+ weeks, which is the longest I’ve gone without riding in many years. Mostly, it’s because I have construction going on here and I can’t leave the security system (dogs) unattended with lots of noise and chaos right outside. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😉

  2. debandtoby. Sometimes just getting through the day feels like exercise.

rontuaru. If I remember correctly from your blog, your security system is quite diligent.

    1. My security system is over the top. So over the top that the first day I had construction workers here one of the guys made the mistake of knocking on my front door. Needed to ask a question I guess? In the process of getting the rabid dogs secured behind security gates they decided to fight with each other. You know … can’t kill him so let’s kill each other? Yeah. The joys of pet ownership. Not. Needless to say, when I finally got said dogs apart the poor guy who had just witnessed me lifting a snarling 45-pound beast over a 3′ gate (with the 20-pound terror snapping at whatever he could reach) forgot what he wanted to ask. On the up side, I didn’t have to remind them that when I let the dogs out to potty they need to stay on/in their equipment. *sigh*
