For those of us who used a typewriter in college, the Courier font causes an immediate knotting of the stomach. (Gimp’s Nimbus Mono L used here is a variant of Courier. “URW++ produced a version of Courier called Nimbus Mono L in 1984.” Wiki)

So that’s why I always switch to Arial, never Courier!
I used a typewriter thru grad school. Boy, am I getting ancient! I now have a collection of over 100 fonts to play with. 🙂
I remember! That’s why I prefer Times New Roman or just about anything else!
I wrote a 75-page dissertation on a manual typewriter. That’s why I use comic san serif whenever I produce anything nowadays.
