Horse Haiku

Awareness of the outside world. I knew about the US Poet. I did not realize that states had official poets as well, Academy of American Poets: Current U.S. and State Poets Laureate.

Milton and Rodney.

Embodied wind. Eating grass.

Equine dichotomy.

  1. It looks difficult.

I just read a little bit about the history of haiku.

    Very difficult!

  2. I’m sure you know this, but the teacher in me acts up sometimes: Haiku represents an instant in time with three distinct sensual images usually implying season, most always outdoors. The most famous haiku are from Matsuo Bashō, who is credited developed the haiku as a form separate from a longer form and used it to reveal his travels. Bashō’s haiku often fail to follow the 5-7-5 syllables in translation because the words themselves have varying syllables in other languages. There’s a lot more, but the 5-7-5 and sometimes the imagery are the rconventions most respected by writers throughout the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haiku

    1. Thank you for the clarification. I was pretty sure what I called haiku were closer to a string of 17 syllables. [Welcome Mat]

      5-7-5. I knew.

instant in time. Will work on this.

three distinct sensual images. Will try to incorporate, imagery is not my forte.

An instant in time & images might make the ceasura/juxtaposition easier to reach. I have struggled with that.
