Geographical Center: Georgia

The true center is in the middle of the woods, so this is as close as one gets. Taken Sunday, February 21, 2016, on the way home from the Georgia banquet [ASHAG Awards 2015].

The monument is on the side of the road in front of a church. All these folks arriving, dressed in their Sunday finest, and I’m lying in the grass taking pictures of a sign. #poortiming.

  1. Is there a reason why the geographical centre of the state is worth commemorating? I don’t think this is something we do in the GWN, though maybe it’s of interest to surveyors…
