[Explanation of saddleseat boot camp here.]
A standard saddleseat ride is short but intense. In lessons and show classes, they go out, do the needful, and come home. The boot camp lessons are more like the lessons of my past: walk breaks, standing around for instruction, demos, exercises, and so forth. We are in the saddle longer but don’t work as hard.
This structure is a piece of cake for me. It’s tougher on the kids, who are not used to mooching about in a saddle for an hour. After the last lesson, one of them was lamenting on this theme. I pointed out that she was young and therefore full of natural zip. She gave me a look and said,
“When I’m old, I hope I look and feel as good as you.”
Well, dang.
Wow that’s a nice compliment from a kid!! Remember that anyone over thirty is ANCIENT to a child!
Sweet 🙂
One up the organization! It’s always fun to realize that at 60 I can still outlast the 18-year-olds. Go for it!
